It is because by only using recycled used material, they are able to create some works of art in the form of miniature and ondel-ondel dolls.
Batavia Art Collection Leader Jajang (35) said a container for creations under Sanggar Seni dan Budaya Topeng Blantek Fajar Ibnu Sena has been made since 2005 and was founded by young Betawi art and architecture lovers.
"Ondel-ondel is one of Betawi arts and cultures. Our goal is to be creative in making ondel-ondel and also making money," he expressed, Monday (3/16).
He explains, to make them is by making a frame from wood materials, plywood and plastic bottles of tea drinks that are glued together using nails.
"We are working on the workshop site by involving 10 people," he told.
As for fashion accessories, miniature head and ondel-ondel parts, it is done using stereofoam materials, fibers and sateen fabric that are glued together. In a week, he can produce 10 pairs of dolls and ondel-ondel miniatures measuring 25 cm high and 35 m length.
"We used to sell them for Rp 35,000 and Rp 100,000 per doll," he told.
Besides dolls and miniatures, his team also produces ondel-ondel in the size of 1-2 meters that can be done in a week.
"Besides helping reduce the volume of waste, we also want to introduce ondel-ondel to millennials," he stated.
