In April, 27 Fire Cases Handled by East Jakarta Gulkarmat

East Jakarta Fire Handling and Rescue (Gulkarmat) Sub-agency mentioned as many as 27 fire cases occurred in East Jakarta in April 2020. This number decreases compared to the same period last year which reached 34 fire cases.

Thus we still continue to socialize and educate people.

East Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-agency Head, Gatot Sulaeman mentioned, there are several factors that cause fire cases decreased in this period such as intensive fire socialization, fire control, and community participation in preventing fire.

"However, number of fire cases from January to April 2020 tends to fluctuate. Thus we still continue to socialize and educate people. Moreover in PSBB program, residents are encouraged to stay at home thus we hope they can anticipate fire early and reduce the number of fire cases," he explained, Friday (5/1).

Electricity Short-circuit Dominates Fire Cases in Central Jakarta

Fire cases which occurred in April didn't cause casualties or injuries, but material loss due to fire reached Rp 1,910,715,000. Most of fire cases were caused by electrical short circuit with 18 cases, stove 2 cases, cigarette 1 case, and others with 6 cases.

The burned objects were 8 houses, 4 public building, 1 industry building, 1 vehicle, 10 installations outside the building,  1 trees, and 2 others. Looking at the percentage of regions which fire occurred in April, most fire cases were occurred in Cakung Sub-district for 24 percent, Duren Sawit 15 percent, and the least Jatinegara for 6 percent.

In East Jakarta, number of fire cases occurred in January 2020 reached 28 cases, February 25 cases, and March 21 cases.
