Satpol PP Tightens Security at 26 Checkpoints to Monitor People's Mobility Between Cities

A number of Jakarta Satpol PP members have been alerted at 26 checkpoints out of and into Jakarta, following the government's ban on Eid homecoming. It aims to anticipating returning flow towards Jakarta without having a Jakarta Exit/Entry Permit (SIKM).

In details, as many as 19 checkpoints are on arterial roads which are the border of Jakarta with Bogor, Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi, 3 checkpoints at Tangerang, Bekasi and Cikampek (Karawang Barat) border toll gates, as well as 4 checkpoints at the Pulogebang Terminal, Tanjung Priok Port, Gambir Station and Soekarno-Hatta Airport.

Jakarta Satpol PP Head Arifin said it is compliance with Gubernatorial Regulation number 47/2020 on travel limitations out of and into Greater Jakarta in an effort to prevent the COVID-19 spread.

"We along with officers from the Transportation Agency and the police conduct surveillance and inspection of SIKM for those entering and leaving Jakarta. If they don't have it, they must turn back," he expressed, Wednesday (5/27).

He expressed one checkpoint applies three shifts. As for the supervision on arterial road, each shift ranges from four to five personnel.

"While checkpoints at the toll gate, personnel are alerted every ten minutes," he explained.

He added it is done to prevent and ward off the disease spread both inside and outside of Jakarta, as it could potentially lead to new cases.
