50 Stalls on Jalan Stasiun Angke Demolished

As many as 50 stalls of street vendors alongside Jalan Stasiun Angke, Jembatan Lima Urban Village, Tambora, West Jakarta, were dismantled by officers of Jembatan Lima Urban Village on Thursday (10/23). The demolishment is done because those stalls standing on sidewalk and has disturbed traffic.

Besides business place, the stalls are also used as residence

Vice Head of Jembatan Lima Urban Village, Pujoko disclosed that raid against street vendors at Jalan Stasiun Angke has been done repeatedly, but they remain re-open the stalls. That is why, he decided to conduct demolishment.

"Besides business place, the stalls are also used as residence," he expressed, Thursday (10/23).

Due to this condition, he said, the sidewalk looks dirty and causes congestion, as well as cannot passed by the passerby. "This is because such stalls jutted into the road up to 1 meter, causing congestion," he disclosed.

To prevent similar thing, he furthered, several pots were deliberately placed on both sides of the pedestrian. He also plans to conduct monitoring in such area.

Rusmini, (41), one of fruit vegetables, admitted he was only just resigned when officers tried to dismantle her stall. "I have been selling here more than 10 years. Actually, officers have often controlled us but we re-open our stall because we don't want to move," he uttered.
