Vice Governor Ariza Urges Locals to Conduct Eid al-Adha Festivities under Health Protocols

Alhamdulillah everything goes well

Jakarta Vice Governor, Ahmad Riza Patria, symbolically handed over a 950-kg cow sacrificial animal at the Cakung PD Dharma Jaya Slaughterhouse (RPH), East Jakarta, on Tuesday (7/20).

On that occasion, he also surveyed the Dharma Jaya RPH and ensured the slaughter of sacrificial animals had implemented under health protocols, apart from of course in accordance with Islamic law.

He recommended that the sacrificial slaughter be carried out at the Ruminansia RPH under strict health protocols in accordance with Governor Instruction number 11/2021.

"This afternoon, I had the opportunity to hand over the sacrificial cow to Korpri, Mr. Amirudin as the sacrificial committee. The cow will be slaughtered here according to the recommendations and provisions that apply during PPKM Darurat in order to ensure its implementation is in accordance with the health protocol. Alhamdulillah everything goes well. All people here must undergo swab test first before slaughtering the animal," he explained, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release.

As reported in the field, this year's Eid al-Adha prayer is still being performed at home based on the MUI fatwa number 36 and 14/2020. Then the sacrificial slaughter must be done at the RPH-R in accordance with Islamic law and under health protocols in accordance with Religion Minister Circular Letter number 17/2021 and Governor Instruction number 43/2021.

If there was a limited quota for the place of slaughter, it could be executed outside by coordinating with the local Covid-19 Task Force. "Certainly it must be done under strict health protocols, no crows allowed, but only concerned officers at the site," he asserted.

Aside that, he bought sacrificial cows from a farmer in South Jakarta. "We really have to give opportunities and empower farmers, to be able to try and develop and our job is to buy and share. After being slaughtered, the meat will be distributed to those in need," he said.

At the same time, he gave an appreciation to the RPH belongs to PD Dharma Jaya that had implemented the qurban slaughter according to Islamic law and Covid health protocols, including the distribution process.

"The capacity here per day is 500 animals that are slaughtered, and InsyaAllah we have 600 ready. And from the community, the committee here has entrusted up to 200 and it will continue to increase every day. Dharma Jaya has also prepared the land here for the process of slaughtering and distributing meat," he explained.

He also appreciated all residents who had complied with the applicable regulations in carrying out a series of Eid al-Adha activities. He again urged all people with a sense of responsibility to obey the rules in the context of handling and controlling the outbreak in Jakarta.

"Thank you for obeying the rules. We really appreciate it. Most of them perform Eid al-Adha prayers at home and slaughter qurban animals at the slaughterhouse," he uttered.

"So, we want to say mohon maaf lahir dan batin (I ask for your forgiveness physically and emotionally) as an Eid al-Adha greeting. Let's we continue to fight and sacrifice for the benefit of many people in this pandemic. So if you are fighting, you have to be persistent, you have to be optimistic, never give up, and you must make sacrifices for the benefit of the people, the interests of the nation and the state," he added.
