Anies: Consistency in Taking Care the Environment can Become a Culture

Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan handed over award in Appreciation of Community Care for Jakarta Province Environment 2021, Balai Agung, Wednesday (11/24).

The award was given as one of Jakarta Provincial Government's appreciation to the related parties for their innovation and consistency in protecting the environment in Jakarta.

"We are proud that our effort to take care and prepare our living environment to be decent, even better when it is handed over to our children and grandchildren, since we have found the guardians (award recipients)," said Governor Anies in his remarks, as quoted from Jakarta PPID Press Release.

According to him, protecting the environment is not enough to be done programmatically, but requires approach that requires involvement of all parties. If this is done optimally, the quality of environment in Jakarta will be better.

"Actually, the biggest achievement is that quality of Jakarta environment is getting better. This all requires movement approach, not just a program, involving all of them," he added.

Furthermore, if effort to protect the environment is carried out with movement, it is hoped that new habits will grow in each residents. If new habit to protect the environment is done consistently, later on it will become a culture and have an impact on civilization in the future.

"You are the forefront, consistency in taking care the environment must become a culture, not just a slogan. Culture consists of several phases, taught, disciplined, until it becomes a habit. When habits are carried out continuously it will become a culture. Culture that is maintained will be a civilization. We hope that our city will feel the impact in the future," said Governor Anies.

In addition, he also advised that this award should be seen as a motivation to create innovations to care for the environment in Jakarta.

"This appreciation is a sign and doesn't stop here, it must be continued and we hope that awards received by each individual and institutions can be an inspiration for others," he said.
