Considering the potential of fire that could occur after residents leave their homes due to their lack of understanding of fire prevention procedures.
Jakarta Fire Handling and Rescue (Gulkarmat) Sub-agency Head Satriadi Gunawan conveyed that leaving an empty house was very risky. One of the risks was an electric short circuit. Therefore, before leaving home, he reminded residents to unplug all electronic devices to avoid an electrical fire.

He also reminded house owners to remove regulators from gas cylinders when not in use to avoid gas leaks that could cause a fire.
"If you don't want to take off the regulator, make sure to turn off the gas stove," he added.
Furthermore, Eid homecoming travelers were also urged to leave the house key to a trusted person if they felt doubtful about leaving the house empty and unattended.
"Thus, the house key holder can help if a problem occurs," he said.
Ahead of Eid, residents were also advised to notify RT/RW administrators or security officers in their neighborhood and include a mobile number that could be contacted if they planned to leave the house.
In addition, he asked homecomers who have pets to leave them in an animal care center or someone they trust to look after their pets.
"Of course, homecomers can travel in peace if they understand and are aware of the importance of fire prevention," he expressed.
