We want more residents in Jakarta to get water from pipes
The groundbreaking ceremony was also attended by PAM Jaya Director Syamsul Bachri, North Jakarta Mayor Ali Maulana Hakim and his rank, as well as Jakarta DPRD members Hasan Basri Umar and Gani Suwondo
It was also a form of gratitude for the clean water that had flowed in Muara Kamal in the last 100 days. It is the Jakarta administration's effort in terms of fulfilling the basic needs of the community, namely clean water evenly, by installing a pipeline network throughout the Kamal Muara area.
Bank DKI Distributes Aid to Accelerate Access to Clean Water in Semanan"Alhamdulillah, today, in RW 01 Kamal Muara Urban Village, we are grateful for 100 Days of Water Supply in this area. We want more residents in Jakarta to get water from pipes. They don't have to take water from the ground and no need to buy water from distributors which are expensive," he expressed, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release.
From PAM Jaya's calculations, they can make significant savings where previously they had to pay for water weekly or daily for one month amounting to Rp 800,000 to Rp 1 million. But now, by using piped water, they can only pay around Rp 50,000 to Rp 70,000 to Rp 80,000, depending on the number of needs.
"This is a great saving. If it was calculated, it can save 95 percent. So, the cost that goes out to households for water can go down by 95 percent. This means their income can be used for other needs such as children's education, house repairs, and other activities," he explained.
He explained clean water is an important element that must be provided by the state. In this case, through PAM Jaya, the Jakarta administration continues to intensify it. Therefore, the Governor also advised residents to use water as well as possible and not waste it.
"Don't use this for personal gain but use it for daily needs and business. Use them as well as possible. With a low cost, InsyaAllah, it will be a blessing for the residents here," he explained.
He also appreciated the entire ranks of PAM Jaya for their efforts in producing pipes to the end of the village at the end of Jakarta. He also expressed his gratitude for the support of the legislature, namely the DPRD, which also paid attention to the needs of the residents in Kamal Muara.
"Thank you to the legislators, Mr. Gani and Basri who are here today with us. Without their support, this won't be possible. Thank you for the support of the residents who have supported this activity. Welcome warmly when you see the officers. Because of them, the pipe can be here. This is for the good and benefit of all," he concluded.
As for the information, there are currently 11 RTs in RW 01 Kamal Muara Sub-district that have enjoyed access to piped water, namely RT 01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06, 08, 09, 10, 11, and 12. Then 8 RTs in RW 04 Kamal Muara Urban Village which has also been connected to piped water access by PAM JAYA, namely RT 01 - 08.
There are currently around 16,000 new connections installed by the SPAM Hutan Kota project in Kamal Muara and this number will continue to grow, which is one proof of PAM JAYA's readiness to reach 100 years on December 23, 2022, and towards 100 percent service coverage by 2030.
Then various efforts were made by PAM JAYA in accelerating services and access to piped drinking water for Jakartans, one of which was the construction of the Urban Forest SPAM pipeline network.
Through the SPAM Hutan Kota project, they would build a transmission and distribution pipeline network of ±116 km to flow water from the Urban Forest Water Treatment Plant (IPA) with 500 liters per second capacity to approximately 30,000 target customers in the areas of Kamal Muara, Kamal, Pegadungan, and Tegal Alur.
The effort to accelerate the development of piped water access is in line with the efforts of the administration in providing equal distribution of social justice and efforts to reduce land subsidence and environmental damage in Jakarta.
