The event initiated by the Kaukus Muda Betawi is held to celebrate Indonesia's 77th Independence Day, with the theme 'Seni, Budaya dan Satra Betawi dalam Kegembiraan dan Keresahan' (Betawi Arts, Culture and Literature in Joy and Anxiety).

"The theme of the event has two meanings, namely Joy and Anxiety. With this joy, we can feel independence, the emergence of new phenomena, and so on. We can feel the anxiety through the issue of IKN to the pros and cons of changing the street names of Betawi figures. We will explain all this to Jakarta residents," said the man who is popularly called Bang Boim, Friday (8/26).
According to him, the Betawi Merdeka Festival is a form of expression for art and cultural activists and actors in commemorating the 77th Independence Day.
"Hopefully, this event can be sustainable thus there is a clear platform for art and cultural activists to channel their aspirations," he hoped.
He explained that several young Betawi artists and figures who will appear at this event include: Ahmad Zurkon, Amrullah Kojak Rap, Atin Kisam, Amzar Dulmanan, Azis Kahfia, Beky Mardani, Diding Boneng, Gea Hermansyah, Haji Zainuddin (Oding).
Then Joe Thunder, Matar Kamal, Maulana, Sam Haesy, Ichwan Ridwan (Boim), Roni Adi, Tutur Denes, Usni Hasanuddin, Wahyu KC, Yahya A. Saputra, and other artists.
"Let's liven up the event while staying overnight this week in the courtyard of the MH Thamrin Museum," he exclaimed.
He added that the Kaukus Muda Betawi assessed that MH Thamrin Museum is an educational tourist spot that should be visited by more people, especially students or the young generation.
"Hope museum facilities and infrastructure can be better, especially road access can be widened thus tourist buses can easily enter," he closed.
