500,427 Shade Trees Planted in Central Jakarta

Planting location is adjusted to the requests of urban village and sub-district

The South Jakarta Parks and City Forest Sub-agency planted around 500,427 shade trees in eight sub-districts from October to December 2022.

According to Mila Ananda, Head of Central Jakarta Parks and City Forest Sub-agency, the 500,427 shade trees planted consisted of mahogany, bougenvile, tabebuya, trembesi, and banyan.

There were also 119 vertical gardens and 1,755,448 ornamental plants were also planted during the same period.

"Planting location is adjusted to the requests of urban village and sub-district," he said, Tuesday (1/17).

This year, her sub-agency would also coordinate with related urban villages and sub-districts related to the technical direction of planting distance. It was done because of limited land in Central Jakarta.

"I've coordinated with urban villages and sub-districts before asking for trees first tell about the area and distance of the land," he added.

The sub-agency is also asking the Parks and City Forest Agency to provide trees with a smaller diameter.

"Especially in Central Jakarta, we've asked for small diameters," she stated.
