MRT East-West Line Phase I Construction Officially Begins"Hopefully public transports in Jakarta are well integrated such as MRT up to Ancol, LRT up to Manggarai, and Transjakarta. So that the residents are able to use public transports well," he said.
Heru added that existing transportation in Jakarta are quite complete as well as the operations have been running well. Transjakarta's headway is good, MRT and LRT are also on time.
Heru continued that the existing public transports in Jakarta still have not yet overcome the congestion. There are 22 million vehicles going back and forth leaving and entering Jakarta.
Heru emphasized the importance of joint efforts with the surrounding areas to overcome traffic congestion. This has been exemplified by the initiative of President Joko Widodo who inaugurated the east-west MRT phase construction up to Bekasi then heading to the west of Jakarta.
Then the construction of LRT is also being carried out in stages. The Rawamangun LRT line to Manggarai construction is being run and the next route to Dukuh Atas will follow.
"Handling congestion can not be handled by Jakarta alone. It needs collaboration with the surrounding areas," Heru continued.
Meanwhile, the remarks of the Indonesian Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi, read by Heru, emphasized the meaning of the Transportation Day commemoration as a momentum to reflect on the devotion and work that has been given in the field of transportation for the nation and state.
"I invite all stakeholders in the transportation sector to look back at what we have achieved in the past 10 years, commit to maintaining the sustainability of these achievements, and at the same time make notes of improvements in the future," he stated.
In accordance with President Joko Widodo's vision and mission, he continued, namely the realization of an advanced, sovereign, independent, and distinctive Indonesia, based on mutual cooperation, the transportation sector has also proven its commitment to collaborate to realize connectivity, so that all regions of Indonesia can be connected, sovereign, and achieve economic independence. It becomes the development basis of the transportation sector to use an Indonesia-centric paradigm.
"Modern transportation with a digitalization system has been implemented throughout Indonesia. Aside of proud with the achievement, it is also expected to continue to improve transportation services, so that they are more efficient, effective, comfortable, and make it easier for the community," he explained.
