A talented young athlete from Jakarta, Fairuddin Ishafahani, won a gold medal at PON XXI Aceh-North Sumatra 2024.

Fairuddin won the Men's 67.1 kg  70 kg class in the Tarung Derajat sport after beating East Kalimantan's though athlete in the final match held at Bale Meuseraya, Aceh, Thursday (9/19).

Fairuddin won the match by 2-1 score and grabbed first gold medal for Jakarta for Tarung Derajat sport.

"Alhamdulillah I win the golf medal for Jakarta. Thanks to my struggle, my parents prayer, family, friends, and the support of my coach and manager. Thanks to all in Jakarta Pelatda," he said.

Jakarta Tarung Derajat Head Coach, Juniyanto, expressed his pride in Fariuddin's achievements.

"He won against defending champion at PON Papua. He has great potential with his 23 years old of age. What an extraordinary performance by him during the match," he stated.

He added that this victory becomes historic for Jakarta since Tarung Derajat last gold medal was grabbed at 2008 PON.

Jakarta Youth and Sport Agency Head, Andri Yansyah, admitted this achievement also becomes victory for his entire team and supporters who have contributed greatly to get gold.

Andri added that Fairuddin not only added medal tally for Jakarta contingent, but also proved himself as one of the young athletes who should be reckoned with on the national stage.

"It adds achievement for Jakarta contingent and proved that Fairuddin has bright future for Tarung Derajat sport," he stated.
