Jakarta Provincial Government is building a dam as wide as 21 hectares and 4-6 meters deep in Rorotan Urban Village, Cilincing Sub-District, North Jakarta. Hence, the residents living in Marunda and Rorotan urban villages do not need to worry again about flood if rainy season comes.

According to Head of North Jakarta Water Management Public Works Sub-Department, Wagiman Silalahi, this project is predicted to finish in 2015.
“Rorotan Dam is targeted to avoid flooding from happening in Rorotan Urban Village and surrounding areas. Besides wet trace, jogging track and park will also be built around the dam,” he stated, Tuesday (4/8).
Moreover, Wagiman disclosed that Rorotan Dam construction is easier because the whole land was owned by one of developer companies that have submitted its obligation to build social and public facilities.
“The construction process is easier, because we no longer need to do land acquisition. The whole land was owned by a developer, and it is ready to be used,” he finished.
