Jakarta Provincial Government provides free double-decker buses to anticipate traffic jam due to Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) construction along Transjakarta corridor I Blok M - Kota.

"The MRT project takes the lane of other vehicles. Free buses should be provided," said Jakarta Vice Governor Basuki T Purnama, Monday (4/7).

He admitted, the double-decker buses procurement is still in process to provide free buses. The amount will be added with 23 fleets of double-decker given by a company to Jakarta Provincial Government.

"15 buses are enough to cover transportation along corridor I," he added.

According to him, the city government is about to forbid motorcycle passing corridor I after the double-decker buses are ready.

"We'll coordinate with building management in providing parking lot for motorcycle. Maximum fee is Rp 5,000 per day," Basuki stated.
