TransJakarta Bus Burned on Jalan Sultan Agung

Smoke was first seen from the bus’ rear engine when it was running from Rumput Market Bus Stop. Then, small sounds of explosion were heard until fire flamed and burned the bus

TransJakarta bus burned again. This time, the incident happened in corridor IV (Pulogadung-Dukuhatas), precisely in front of Jayakarta Military Post Headquarter, Jalan Sultan Agung, Rumput Market, Setia Budi, South Jakarta, at around 1.30 PM, Tuesday (4/8).

“Smoke was first seen from the bus’ rear engine when it was running from Rumput Market Bus Stop. Then, small sounds of explosion were heard until fire flamed and burned the bus. The passengers scrambled outside the bus in panic, before fire finally burned the whole body of the bus,” said Asep (31), an eyewitness of the incident.

The fire was finally extinguished shortly after four firemen arrived at the scene. Because of this incident, traffic congestion was inevitable in front of Rumput Market towards Dukuh Atas and vice versa.

“There is no casualty in this incident. The fire was allegedly occurred due to short-circuit on the bus’ engine and empty radiator. We’re currently questioning the bus driver in Setiabudi Sector Police Headquarter for investigation process of the cause of the incident,” stated Setia Budi Sector Police Chief AKBP Tri Suhartanto.
