RSCM Did Not Provide Polling Station

Due to the unavailability of polling station at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM), many patients’ families and the patients cannot use their voting right in the legislative election this time.

We have asked the employees data who are working at that time and the number of patients exist, but they still refuse

Martin (37), one of the patient's family regretted that RSCM cannot provide any polling station in the hospital. As a government hospital, the manager should provide polling station so that the patients, visitors and nurses could use their voting rights.

“I'm here to see my sister who is being treated. I wonder why there is no polling station in this hospital?” he questioned (4/9).

Rendi, another patient’s family also questioned the same thing. Because there was no polling station, he had to walk about 300 meters to the Jalan Kimia, Salemba polling station outside the hospital by bringing A5 paper for the voting.

“The polling station is quite far from the hospital. How can the patients walk to that location,” he complained.

Apart from that, the Chairman of Central Jakarta General Elections Commission (KPU), Arif Bawono, said that his party had sent a letter to RSCM in order to provide polling station in the hospital since last July 2013. Two weeks later, the RSCM replied to the letter and refused to the procurement of polling station at the hospital.

"They argue since many of their employees take a day off and live in Central Jakarta. Essentially, they do not want the presence of polling stations in the RSCM area," he said.

According to Arif, RSCM could cooperate with Kenari Urban Village so that the Ballot Group Organizer (KPPS) come to the hospital.

“We have asked the employees data who are working at that time and the number of patients exist, but they still refuse," he added.

When confirmed, the Head of Public Relations of RSCM Sulastin refused to say if they were reluctant to provide polling station and do not support the implementation of the democracy party.

“This is just a legislative election, not the presidential or governor election. Perhaps, it is presidential or governor election, we will provide the polling,” he argued.

Added Sulastin, the current number of patients treated at RSCM there was about 300 people. The patients were not entirely the city residents. They mostly come from outside Jakarta.

"Patients treated at RSCM come from out of the city. They are also have not taken care of A5 card for the voting," he said.
