Fire razes a two-story house at RT 06/08, No. 7, Jembatan Besi Urban Village, Tambora Sub-District, West Jakarta, Thursday (4/10). The incident caused three house inhabitants injured and rushed to Tarakan Hospital, Central Jakarta.

Head of Jembatan Besi Urban Village, Amperiyani, said the fire broke out at around 9 AM from Ahmad Yani (40)’s house. The house owner used the ground floor of the house as a food stall.

“The fire was triggered by gas canister explosion. The gas canister exploded when being used to cook in the kitchen. Allegedly, its hose leaked,” she stated.

Due to this incident, married couple Ahmad Yani and Kasirah (35), who are the food stall owner, as well as son-in-law named Yana (20) suffered burns in their hands and bodies.

“The victims are currently treated in Tarakan Hospital,” told Amperiyani.

According to Head of West Jakarta Fire and Disaster Handling Sub-Department, Jon Vendri, fire only burned a part of the house’s ground floor because the locals quickly extinguished it using light fire extinguisher (APAR).

“When firefighters arrived at the scene, the fire was already extinguished by the locals. But as anticipation step, we sent 10 fire trucks to the location,” he finished.
