Gembrong Market underpass, East Jakarta was inundated after rain poured on Saturday (2/6). Damaged stationary pump had caused this problem.

Temporary allegedly that pump was damage due to cable failure

Puddle occurred at 6 PM to 9 PM on road from Gembrong Market towards Kampung Melayu. The water level was 30-50 cm. The vice versa road condition was normal.

East Jakarta Mayor, Bambang Musyawardana, directly deployed 50 joint personnel from Satpol PP, Sub-dept. of Fire Handling and Rescue, Sub-dept. of Water Management and PPSU. They were assigned to uncover the manhole to ease the water flow.

In fact, the water did not flow smoothly. Based on field inspection, the pump was damage.

“Temporary allegedly that pump was damage due to cable failure,” he said.
