Residents Must Pay Rp 316 Thousand for Islah Marriage

The wish of 16 husband-wife couples of Kamal residents, Kalideres Sub-District, West Jakarta, who want to reform (islah) their marriage status to be admitted by the state, is hampered. This is because to enroll for islah trial, those couples, who are underprivileged residents, have to pay for Rp 316 thousand to the state.

We are hampered by the regulation, because PA must pay for islah trial fee to the state

West Jakarta PR Religious Court (PA), Rizal, said those couples want to conduct a free islah trial based on relief letter from urban village and sub-district officials. However, the PA is still hampered by court law that regulates islah payment as much as Rp 316 thousand to the state.

“We are hampered by the regulation, because PA must pay for islah trial fee to the state,” he stated, Monday (4/14).

For that, Rizal suggested West Jakarta Administration to hold cross-sector cooperation. This is because those 16 couples must be given solution, including other residents who are already married and have children but do not have marriage certificates until now.

“We need to hold cross-sector cooperation to solve Kamal residents’ problem. Since it is a legal problem, so the one handling it should be the Legal Bureau,” he uttered.

According to Rizal, those 16 couples are already married, so it is impossible to conduct mass marriage which is only for unmarried couples.  For those who have married and have children, they need to propose for islah to avoid polygamy, polyandry, and infidelity.

“They already married and have children, so mass marriage policy is wrong according to religion law. Mass marriage is for unmarried couples. The right term is islah marriage,” he finished.
