Central Jakarta Manpower and Transmigration Sub-Department has launched a new program 'Productive Village Training (PPK)' in order to decrease the unemployment rate. Such program is hoped exploring the citizen potential to produce creative products.

Head of Central Jakarta Manpower and Transmigration Sub-Department, Atok Baroni Hidayat disclosed until now his sub-department has trained 176 citizens who signed up as participant of the eight selected urban villages. The provided training is varied, in accordance with a variety of proposed participants.

He cited that, in Kebon Kacang Urban Village, Tanah Abang, the knitting and embroidery trainings would be given for those who have signed up as participants.

"Interestingly, we provide training for the making of patchwork and sand painting in Johar Baru Urban Village," he told.

He stated sand painting is a creative product that is currently popular and is in high demand. Moreover, such unique painting artwork is very rare in the market. "We also train participants to package products with beautiful and attractive," he explained.

Even, he plans to cooperate with the entrepreneurs who are willing to promote the participants' creative products.

"In the future, the entrepreneurs could also manage the PPK program through funds of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)," he expressed.

West Jakarta Deputy Mayor, Rustam Effendi added, the amount of unemployment in Central Jakarta is still worrying. From the data, of the 902,973 million people, 11.21 percent or 54,782 out of them are unemployed.

"Economic growth in Central Jakarta reaches 6.3 percent, so it would create 78,337 workers," he exclaimed.

To achieve that amount, he revealed support from various stakeholders is needed, including from the private sector through its CSR program.

"We need to work hard and should have the support of many parties. We already mobilizing the support of the private entrepreneurs," he concluded.
