BPK to Monitor City Budget Usage Through 3 Banks

Jakarta Governor, Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) on data of Jakarta Provincial Government's account transactions in three banks such as BNI, BRI, and Mandiri online. It is done in the framework of the examination for management and local financial responsibility.

Such MoU was signed by BPK Head Hadi Poernomo, Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo, BNI Director Gatot M Suwondo, BRI Director Sofjan Basir, and Mandiri Director Budi Gunadi Sadikin, at BPK office, Jalan Gatot Subroto, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (4/16).

Jakarta Governor, Jokowi disclosed the cooperation is one step of openness on budget usage. Later on, the BPK could directly monitor all transactions in such banks.

BPK to Monitor Grant Funds by Rp 5 T

"Indeed, we are transparent totally. This is not a data problem, but financial transaction in DKI, BNI and Mandiri Banks. All will be monitored by BPK. Each transaction, all could be monitored and audited," he stated.

He assessed this collaboration is a preventive effort to narrow and eliminate the people's opportunity on irregularities practice. It is the first time in Indonesia and is expected can be imitated by other cities in future. "Jakarta wants to start and our city is the first," said Jokowi.

BPK Head, Hadi Poernomo stated that the signing is a follow-up of the signing of local government accounts in the Local Development Bank (BPD) and Jakarta government some time ago.
