Priok Freeway Completion Depends on Land Acquisition

There is no sign of completion related to connstruction project of Tanjung Priok Port toll road in North Jakarta even though it has entered the fifth year of working. Meanwhile, the project is targeted to be done in early 2015. Land acquisition is the main factor of this hampered Rp 4.4 trillion project.

If the acquisition could be done in a month, the project might finish by the mid or end of 2015

Jakarta Governor Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo has instructed North Jakarta Mayor Heru Hartono to support the land acquisition.

"Traffic jam could not be avoided due to this unfinished project. I'm sorry. But, the local mayor promised to finish the land acquisition next month," Jokowi said during his visit to the project area, Wednesday (4/16).

Jokowi admitted that city administration takes the responsibility over land acquisition although the project is run by Ministry of Public Works. About 45 plots; 11 plots in Cilincing Sub-district and 34 plots in Koja sub-district, need to be bought.

North Jakarta Mayor, Heru Budi Hartono, explained the land in Kalibaru, Cilincing is priced for Rp 1.9 million/m2. Previously, the residents demanded for Rp 10 million/m2.

"We should cut the price because the land actually belongs to PT Pelindo, but the residents took it," Budi said.

On Jalan Jampea, Koja, the residents requested for Rp 35 million/m2, while the offer was Rp 7 million/m2.

"The deal was Rp 12.5 million because the residents refused our first offer," he added.

Meanwhile, the General Director of Highways (Bina Marga) for Ministry of Public Works, Djoko Murjanto, stated the project construction depends on land acquisition process.

"If the acquisition could be done in a month, the project might finish by the mid or end of 2015," he stated.

The Tanjung Priok Port highway project has lenght 11.58 km and is about to spend Rp 4.4 trillion. Lenght details are, section E1 Rorotan - Cilincing 3.4 km, section E2 Cilincing - Jampea 2.74 km, section E2A Jampea - Simpang Jampea 1.92 km, section NS Link Simpang Jampea - Yos Sudarso (2.42 km), and section NS Direct Ramp (1.1 km).
