7 Speed Ships of Serving Seribu Islands Need Rejuvenation

Section Head of Facilities and Infrastructures, Transport Water Management and Port Affair Unit, City Transportation Dept., Kamaru Zaman, said that at present, those seven ships have passed their life time so that this year they should have been rejuvenated.
"For rejuvenation, we have proposed it since last year. However, for this year the Regional Planning Agency (Bapeda) says there is no budget for it," he said, Thursday (4/17).
At the time being, Kerapu 1 until 6 have their line been moved, while Kerapu 1 until 3 serve Kali Adem port, Muara Angke-Rusunawa Marunda route. Whereas Kerapu 4-6 serve Untung Jawa, Pari and Payung Island destination.
“For the ships that its life time have crossed the line, they serve routes to the islands in the inside areas. Whereas for far destinations, we use Catamaran, Catamaran 2 and 3 as well as Paus ship," he stated.
According to Long Term Program Draft (RPJP) until 2017, there should be 4 large vessels with a capacity of 200 people serve the transportation inter-islands. While at this time, only new Catamaran ship that has capacity of 200 passengers.
“The total passengers in 2013 were 88,110 people. An increase usually occurs on holidays and weekends. It can reach 2,000 passengers per day. We hope in 2015, there will be additional ships," he hoped.
