Frequently Flooded, Locals in Warakas Request Sluice Repair

Citizens living in Warakas Urban Village, Tanjung Priok Sub-district, North Jakarta are requesting related unit to repair a sluice gate at Jalan Warakas I, RT 08/01. This is because, its existence is very important to anticipate overflowing waters from Tirem River towards residential.

It is already more than 10 years, the sluice has not been repaired

"It is already more than 10 years, the sluice has not been repaired. That's why water from Tirem River often inundates residential as high as 10-15 centimeters," said Chairwoman of RT 08/01, Rusmiyanti, Monday (3/28).

According to Rusmiyanti, the sluice has existed since 1971. And, its function is to anticipate inundation from water channel that connected with the river.

But, since 10 years, flood always inundates homes in RT 08 and 06/RW 01. "To anticipate it early, it could be repaired immediately," she stressed.

Section Head of Tanjung Priok Sub-district Water Management Sub-dept, Wahyu Dianto uttered his side will immediately follow up the citizen request.

"Besides that, his side will build a pump house and install a pump in the location," he closed.
