Monorail Construction also Hampered by Land Availability

Monorail construction project in the capital city seems would not be realized in the near future. Aside unfinished cooperation agreement discussion between PT Jakarta Monorail (JM) and Jakarta Provincial Government, now another problem occurs, that is about land availability for monorail depot on green line.

There is no problem with the blue line. But for the green line, we still need 8-hectare of land to build the depot

Acting City Secretary, Wiriyatmoko, said the cooperation agreement discussion is still running. One of the points that have not agreed yet is about the property that will be constructed. “The property has not decided yet because it is located in the middle of the road,” he told, Saturday (4/19).

While regarding the land availability for monorail depot on green line, Wiriyatmoko continued, the problem arises because it is impossible to build depot around the green line. “There is no problem with the blue line. But for the green line, we still need 8-hectare of land to build the depot,” he stated.

Based on the plan, green line routes to be built are Komdak – Senopati – SCBD – Asia Afrika – Madya Stadium – Palmerah – Pejompongan – Karet – Sudirman – Setiabudi Utara – Central Kuningan – Taman Rasuna – Casablanca – Grand Melia – Gatot Subroto – Satria Mandala.

“Just look at to the green line, there is no more land as wide as 8 hectares. Inevitably, the routes must be moved to the east or south, which currently being discussed,” he uttered.

For the blue line, monorail stations will be built in Kampung Melayu – Tebet – Dr Saharjo – Menteng Dalam – Casablanca – Ambassador – Sudirman WTC – Batavia Tower – Karet – Kebon Kacang – Tanah Abang – Cideng – Caringin – Tomang – Taman Anggrek – Citraland.

While regarding the monorail pillars payment from PT JM to PT Adhi Karya, Wiriyatmoko informed that there is no agreement yet on the price. Whereas, monorail pillars payment is one of the requirements to continue monorail construction. “Both (PT JM and PT Adhi Karya) still have different opinion about the payment,” he disclosed.
