City to Manage ERP Independently

Jakarta Governor, Basuki T Purnama decided that the development of electronic road pricing (ERP) will not be handed over to the private side. But the city administration will develop it by themselves.

"We want to auction and to develop the ERP by myself. I won't involve with private side," he stated, at City Hall, Monday (4/4).

According to him, if it is developed independently, his party can freely set the fare. Considering the early goal of this matter is to manage traffic. "ERP is not to take advantage, but to manage traffic," he stressed.

ERP Socialization Conducted One Year

Basuki added, if it involves private side, his party cannot decrease or increase the fare freely. When the traffic is quiet, the fare will be decreased. But it will be re-increased when the situation is dense.

"We will purchase tool to smoothen it. The fare could be free when traffic is empty. It can be set. Definitely I will not involve them (private side)," he closed.
