Formalined Food Still Found in Central Jakarta

Central Jakarta Small and Medium Enterprises Cooperatives (KUMKMP) Dept along with Jakarta Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) did a sudden inspection in a temporary location JP 41, Jalan Penataran, Menteng, precisely behind Proklamasi Monument, Friday (4/8). The officer managed to find food containing hazardous substances.

Central Jakarta KUMKMP Sub-dept Head, Bangun Richard disclosed, his sub-dept took 63 samples of food from 30 culinary peddlers and directly checked.

"There are six foods positively containing hazardous substances. They are yellow noodle containing formalin and three crackers containing borax," he stated, Friday (4/8).

The officer then seized the food. Later on, the peddler would be given a guidance.

"We also give warning. If the same case is found again, we will evict them from the market," he stressed.=
