Heavy Rain Collapses Eight Trees around TMII

Heavy rain that hit the capital yesterday, has collapsed eight trees around Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), East Jakarta, at around 5 PM. Luckily, there was no casualty reported in the incident.

TMII Public Relation Staff, Asep admitted there were only two trees fell in front of the Pangeran Diponegoro Mosque and near South Sumatera Pavilion.

Meanwhile, Head of Operation Section for East Jakarta Fire Handling and Rescue Sub-dept, Gatot Sulaiman mentions, eight trees were fell around TMII. Those spread in front of the main gate of TMII, Jl TMII Pintu I, in front of South Sumatera Pavilion, in front of Riau Pavilion, in front and behind of West Kalimantan Pavilion, in front of PLN Generator, in front of Imax Keong Mas Theater, in front of TMII Monastery and in front of Caping Gunung building.

"Fallen tree is due to heavy rain and strong wind. Tree types are from angsana, trembesi, and pine," he told.

Sulaiman details, most tree diameter is between 30-50 cm with 8-15 meters high. Until 6 PM, 25 officers are still evacuating fallen trees by using chainsaw, cleaver and other tools.
