“
We detained F in East Jakarta ex-Makodim 0505 area. The drugs were kept in a plastic bag and coated with a brown envelope tucked in his shirt ,” stated East Jakarta Metro Resort Police Deputy Chief AKBP M Abrar Tuntalanai, Wednesday (4/23).According to Tuntalanai, before arrested, F was going to bring the drugs into the prison to be produced and distributed there as well as outside the prison. The drugs, which worth Rp 1 billion if cashed, were obtained from BW, who is now a fugitive. F was only a courier to bring the drugs into the prison and gave it to SR, an inmate.
Drugs Worth Rp 1.5 Billion AnnihilatedMeanwhile, East Jakarta Resort Police Drugs Unit Chief AKBP Afrizal added it is alleged that F had been drugs courier often, with payment transferred via his wife’s account.
“We suspected that the drugs were going to be reproduced in the prison before finally distributed in as well as outside the prison,” he told.
However, Afrizal admitted that his party cannot conduct investigation inside the prison due to many factors. To do so, there must be agreement first because prison area is the authority of Law and Human Rights Ministry. In addition, the safety of police officers who conduct investigation inside the prison is also one of considerations.
As for F, he claimed that this is the first time he worked as drugs courier. He tempted to do the job because he was promised a lot of money if he succeeded. Per delivery, he was paid for Rp 1-2 million.
Previously, F served as porter (doorman) in inner side of the prison. After blacklisted by his boss, he was transferred to cleanliness section outside the prison. He has worked as warden in Cipinang Prison for seven years with rank class II-b and salary Rp 1.6 million per month, which he felt insufficient to meet his family’s daily needs, especially because he has a four-year old son.
“This is my first time worked as (drugs) courier due to urgent situation. My salary is not enough to meet daily needs,” he expressed.
The police are still investigating this case deeply because allegedly there is still another civil servant involved. They also keep hunting BW, the person who supplied drugs to F.
