Mud in Channel Along Jalan Bugis Raya Complained by Locals

Citizens living in Kebon Bawang Urban Village, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta are requesting the related unit to normalize water channel along Jalan Bugis Raya. Due to mud, the channel cannot accommodate water and cause overflowing water on the street.

Martin, (56), a citizen of RW 11, Kebon Bawang Urban Village stated, the channel as long as 200 meters and 1 meter wide is full of mud.

"PPSU always cleans up garbage in the channel, but not the mud. Whereas, its mud is thick enough," he expressed, Monday (5/2).

Channel on Jl Warakas VI Cleaned from Mud

According to him, due to thick mud, the channel capacity is reduced. Thus the rainwater easily inundates the street up to 25 centimeters.

Kebon Bawang Urban Village Head, Roni Jarpiko expressed citizen request about river normalization was been proposed in the Regional Development Planning Forums (Musrenbang) this year for next year's project.

"I hope it can be realize this year, I will immediately coordinate with Water Management Public Works Sub-dept," he stated.

Meanwhile, Head of North Jakarta Water Management Sub-dept, Herning Wahyuningsih was not active when being confirmed about such matter.
