We want to develop cattle breeding here (in Jakarta) as well. This matter has been talked about six months ago, but we just met today

“I talked to NTT Governor Frans Lebu Raya about cattle breeding in NTT. In NTT, the cows and meat are abundant. We want to develop cattle breeding here (in Jakarta) as well. This matter has been talked about six months ago, but we just met today,” said Jokowi in Kupang, NTT, Tuesday (4/29).

Moreover, Jokowi admitted that the detail about this cooperation has not been discussed. “It could be in the form of cutlet or cow. That’s why I wanted to check which slaughterhouse that is cheap,” he told.

According to Jokowi, this cooperation could also reduce dependency on imported cattle. Moreover, NTT is an area that can develop cattle breeding. “That is our target. We could reap benefit, Jakarta could have enough stock of meat and cattle,” he uttered.

Besides anticipating high demand for meat before the fasting month and Eid ul Fitr, Jokowi added, this cooperation can also meet beef needs for Jakartans. “Not only Eid ul Fitr, 60 percent of national meat consumption is in Jakarta. This must be maintained,” he stressed.

Previously, Jakarta Provincial Government had also cooperated with Lampung Provincial Government in livestock sector.
