Crime Rate in C. Jakarta Dropped 20 Percent

Central Jakarta Metro Resort Police recorded that the crime rate in Central Jakarta reaches 946 cases throughout January-February 2014. Its amount is decreasing compared to the same period in 2013, which was 991 cases.

"We optimize the entire unit in a bid to decrease the crime acts," said Chief of Public Relations for Central Jakarta Metro Police, Sr. Comr. Suyanto, Tuesday (4/29).

Those cases consist of violence, mugging or extortion, theft by weighting like an empty house burglary, and drug misuse. "Another case that concerns us is motorcycle theft case," he stated.

He urged Central Jakarta people in 8 sub-districts and 44 urban villages to be more aware on the surrounding environment. "To create convenience and safety, we hope residents can be responsive and aware to suspicious things, and report it immediately to the authorities," he stressed.

In addition, police are also intensively conducting socialization through billboards, pamphlets, and stickers all over Central Jakarta areas.
