Blok M-Soekarno Hatta Airport Bus to Roll Out Before Idulfitri

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung is targeting a pre-Idulfitri 1447 Hijri rollout for the new Transjabodetabek bus route linking Blok M to Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.

The initiative is designed to bolster regional connectivity and provide high-quality transportation for both local commuters and international travelers.

"I have mandated that this service be operational before the start of the Idulfitri holidays. We are aiming for a launch by the fourth week of February or early March at the latest," he stated, Friday (2/6).

To ensure a seamless rollout, he has instructed his administration to expedite the construction of new bus stops and the refurbishment of existing facilities along the route.

"The corridor to Soekarno-Hatta International Airport serves as the gateway to Jakarta and, by extension, Indonesia. It is the face of our nation. Hence, I have directed that all bus stops be built to ensure the service is fully operational and meets international standards," he explained.

Through these infrastructure upgrades, he aims to elevate Jakarta’s global profile. The new Transjabodetabek service is strategically planned to provide direct access to all three main terminals at Soekarno-Hatta Airport.

He furthered the operation will involve a strategic partnership between the city-owned bus operator, PT Transportasi Jakarta (Transjakarta), and the national airport operator, PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia.

For the initial launch, a fleet of 20 buses will be deployed, with a projected daily ridership of approximately 2,000 passengers.

"If public demand exceeds our expectations, we will certainly increase the fleet size. Our preliminary assessment suggests a minimum baseline of 2,000 commuters per day," he clarified.

Further, the Jakarta government is committed to maintaining a sufficient number of buses to ensure shorter wait times and more frequent departures.
