Jakarta Unites for a Massive 'Clean Sweep' Across All Districts

The Jakarta government is set to get the ball rolling with the "Jaga Jakarta Bersih" (Keep Jakarta Clean) movement, a simultaneous cleanup operation across the capital this Sunday (2/8).

To improve our overall quality of life

The initiative will kick off with a 7 AM morning assembly, bringing together civil servants (ASN), service providers (PJLP), technical experts, and the general public. From the city center to every sub-district, the movement aims to ensure every corner of Jakarta is covered.

Governor Pramono Anung emphasized that the drive is about more than just a "face-lift" for the city. It aims to create a safe and healthy environment while keeping floods at bay. Further, he hopes the event will encourage residents and officials to work shoulder to shoulder, reviving the spirit of mutual cooperation.

"Maintaining a clean city is a two-way street. It’s not just the government's job; it’s a collective effort to improve our overall quality of life," he expressed, Saturday (2/7).

Pramono stressed that keeping our surroundings clean is a shared burden that begins at home. He urged the public to step up and take an active part in this movement for the city’s well-being.

He will be leading the charge in East Jakarta tomorrow, accompanied by the Mayor and key agency heads from Environment, Public Works, and Satpol PP. Also throwing their weight behind the movement are the head of the Central PMI and various BUMD directors, ensuring the cleanup has the full support of Jakarta’s leadership.

While Governor tackles East Jakarta, Vice Governor Rano Karno will man the front lines in Central Jakarta, flanked by the Deputy Governor and key water management officials. In North Jakarta, Jakarta City Secretary Uus Kuswanto is set to bridge the gap between government and residents alongside the local Mayor and Housing authorities.

The effort remains in full swing in South and West Jakarta, with Regional Assistants and Department Heads (Parks, Forestry, and Fire & Rescue) supporting their respective mayors.

Not to be left behind, the Seribu Islands Regent will lead the charge across the islands.

From the city center to the smallest neighborhood, sub-district and urban village heads will call the shots, leading local residents in this massive collective action.
