Blue Squad Wastes No Time Clearing Standing Water on Panggang Island

Jakarta’s Water Resources (SDA) task force, the 'Blue Squad,' did not miss a beat as they handled standing water in North Seribu Islands this Monday (2/9).

The water is receding now

According to Mustajab, Head of Seribu Island SDA Sub-agency, the morning’s heavy downpour left parts of Panggang Island under 5-7 cm of water. While the flood was minor, it was still a thorn in the side for locals trying to go about their day.

The team sprung into action with a water pump and a thorough cleaning of the drainage control boxes.

Heavy Rainfall Warning Issued for East and South Jakarta

"Our aim was to get things back on track as quickly as possible," he added, ensuring the water receded at the double.

Mustajab emphasized that time is of the essence to prevent standing water from lingering and causing further headaches. In the field, the team worked hand in glove with the local PPSU (Orange Squad) to speed up the process.

"Thankfully, we’ve turned the corner as the water is receding now that the rain has let up. However, we remain on our toes, especially during heavy downpours," he added.

Meanwhile, RT 01/02 Chief from Panggang Island, Junaeda tipped her hat to the Blue Squad’s rapid-fire response. She noted that their quick intervention was a breath of fresh air for residents dealing with the city’s fickle weather.

"Our team arrived in the blink of an eye after we filed the report. The water didn't stand a chance, and life is already back to normal. We truly hope this top-notch service is here to stay," she concluded.
