Jakarta Government Guarantees Safe Food and Meat Stocks

Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung accompanied by Jakarta Deputy Governor Rano Karno ensuring Jakarta's readiness to face major religious events in 2026, from Chinese New Year, Nyepi, to Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr.

in a safe condition

After leading a leadership meeting at the Balairung, Jakarta City Hall, Pramono conveyed that the availability of basic commodities and food prices are still stable in Jakarta.

Food and Meat Supplies in Jakarta Remain Secure

"Food availability for Ramadan and also Eid al-Fitr in Jakarta, including other major holidays, whether it is Chinese New Year or Nyepi and so on, Jakarta is in a safe condition because its reserves are sufficient for that," said Pramono, Tuesday (2/10).

To keep inflation under control, the Jakarta Provincial Government has prepared several strategic measures. These include routine monitoring of food prices, including rice, meat, and 3-kg LPG cylinders, as well as implementing an early warning system for prices in Jakarta.

Pramono emphasized that almost all commodities in Jakarta are currently relatively well-controlled. Therefore, Pramono urged the public not to panic buy food ahead of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr.

The Jakarta Provincial Government also intervened through low-cost market activities at various points in Jakarta to suppress food price fluctuations.

However, the Jakarta Provincial Government is paying special attention to cooking oil and chilies, which frequently experience price increases. As a long-term solution, the urban farming program for chili cultivation will be reinvigorated.

Meanwhile, Bank Indonesia data shows that the Jakarta Consumer Confidence Index (CCI) in January 2026 jumped significantly to 149.8, exceeding the national average of 127. This figure indicates that the purchasing power of Jakarta residents is currently high.

Regarding the large number of people from outside Jakarta seeking opportunities in the capital after Eid al-Fitr, Pramono emphasized that Jakarta will not close itself off to anyone who wants to try their luck.

This is also considering that Jakarta's economy experienced growth in the fourth quarter of 2025. However, he advised newcomers to equip themselves with skills and abilities.

"We hope that anyone who will work in Jakarta will have prepared themselves as well as possible," he hoped.
