City Wants to Take Over Type A Terminal

Jakarta Governor, Basuki T Purnama acknowledged, according to the Law mentions the authority of type A terminal lies in the central government. Hence, he proposed to take over the terminal operational

If it is tailored to the provisions, it cannot, thus he will obey the applicable laws. "According to the law, the type A terminal is managed by the central government. So I will obey its laws," he disclosed, at City Hall, Monday (6/6).

Basuki said takeover proposal was made, because there are still intercity-interprovincial (AKAP) buses stop and pick up passenger in forbidden locations, but there is no strict action. It is very disturbing traffic in around terminal.

"We make proposal to take over the terminal, because we still detect buses pick up passenger haphazardly in Pasar Rebo and we cannot revoke the license. Even the Transportation Ministry doesn't conduct it," he stated.

He admitted such proposal is only to control locations around terminal, thus AKAP buses do not have space to stop and pick up passenger illegally outside terminal.

"Jakarta is chaotic, because many rules controlled by the central government. That's why we want to take over. But, based on the law, it is clearly the authority of the central government," he finished.
