Step Up! East Jakarta Mayor Rallies Civil Servants to Foster Stunted Children

East Jakarta Mayor Munjirin has called on civil servants (ASN) to take an active role in combating malnutrition by becoming foster parents for toddlers identified with stunting.

This is a noble act of compassion for our fellow residents

Munjirin noted that children at risk of stunting generally come from underprivileged families, necessitating targeted support and special attention to improve their health outcomes.

"This is a noble act of compassion for our fellow residents. I sincerely hope that our civil servants can step up as foster fathers or mothers for these toddlers," he expressed, Wednesday (2/25).

Arifin Calls for Stronger Commitment in Tackling Stunting

He requested that civil servants acting as foster parents monitor the children at least three times a week to ensure they receive a balanced nutritional intake.

"Foster parents must also oversee the delivery of the Supplementary Feeding Program (PMT) for a full three months to effectively improve the children's nutritional status," he explained.

Munjirin emphasized that stunted toddlers deserve a high quality of life and dedicated attention, as they represent the nation's future generation who must grow up healthy and resilient.

"This policy is to be implemented across all 10 sub-districts wherever toddlers identified with stunting are found," the Mayor concluded.

Echoing the Mayor's sentiment, Cipayung Sub-district Head, Head Diman confirmed that mitigation efforts are in full swing in his area.

"We are putting the Mayor’s instructions into action immediately. We are rallying our staff to serve as foster parents to accelerate the recovery of children in our sub-district," he stated firmly.
