Motorists who regularly travel along Jalan Kampung Keramat in RW 04, Setu Urban village, Cipayung Sub-district, East Jakarta, are being urged to take alternative routes following a road collapse near the Kali Sunter bridge connecting Bekasi and East Jakarta.
"The collapsed section is about six meters wide,"
"We have placed markers advising motorists not to use this road for the time being. The collapsed section is about six meters wide, one meter long, and 20 to 30 centimeters deep," Setu Urban Village Head Dwi Widiastuti said on Wednesday (2/25).
Bina Marga Agency Installs Warning Signs at High-Risk LocationsDwi added that Satpol PP personnel have been deployed to warn residents and provide information on alternative routes.
As alternatives, motorists can pass through Jalan Sumir, Jalan PLN, or the Jakarta Outer Ring Road (JORR) toll road, although the distance is relatively longer.
"Our main concern is preventing four-wheeled vehicles from passing through, as they could worsen the damage," she asserted.
The incident has been reported to the East Jakarta Bina Marga Sub-agency. The urban village administration will also send a letter to the Ciliwung Cisadane River Basin Agency (BBWSCC).
"We hope repairs can be carried out soon, as this road is vital for residents," she shared.
East Jakarta Bina Marga Sub-agency Head Benhard Hutajulu explained that his office has coordinated with the Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency and BBWSCC, as the bridge spans Kali Sunter, which falls under central government authority.
"Repairs must begin with reinforcing the underside of the bridge. If we simply resurface the road with asphalt, it could collapse again because the underlying structure remains fragile," he said.
