Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has urged to residents planning their annual Idulfitri mudik (exodus) to notify local neighborhood officials before departing for their hometowns.
We will reinvigorate grassroots surveillance
It is intended as a strategic measure to tighten security for residences left vacant during the holiday season. The Jakarta government is currently preparing an official circular to formalize this directive.
"We'll issue a circular letter to be signed by the City Secretary, requesting that departing residents register their departure with their local neighborhood heads (RT/RW) or urban village office beforehand," he expressed, Friday (2/27).
Some Tips to Keep Your Home Fire-Safe During Mudik TripsTo support this initiative, the Jakarta government will revitalize neighborhood watch programs, known locally as Siskamling, across all districts throughout the holiday exodus.
"To safeguard our communities and maintain security, we will reinvigorate grassroots surveillance during the mudik season," he expressed.
While the official circular is currently being finalized, residents are encouraged to begin notifying local authorities immediately.
"The process can certainly start now. We invite anyone planning to travel to coordinate with their respective RT/RW starting today," he concluded.
