Maintain Stability in Jakarta`s Waste Management, Rorotan RDF Plant is Operating in Phases

The Jakarta Provincial Government, through the Environmental Agency, operated the Rorotan RDF Plant following the landslide at the Bantargebang Landfill. This measure is taken to help process Jakarta's waste and maintain the stability of the waste management system.

various handling steps

Head of Jakarta Environmental Agency, Asep Kuswanto said the operation of the Rorotan RDF Plant is part of the Jakarta Provincial Government's rapid strategy to ensure that waste management services continue to run optimally even though some zones at the Bantargebang landfill are still in the post-landslide arrangement process.

Jakarta Fast-Tracks Bantargebang Restoration with One-Week Target

"The Rorotan RDF Plant has started operating with an initial capacity of around 300 tons per day and will be gradually increased to 750 tons per day this week, then increased to 1,000 tons per day," he said, Wednesday (3/11).

He added that currently, waste disposal services at the Bantargebang landfill continue to operate through Zone 1, Zone 2, and Zone 5 with a capacity of around 4,000 tons per day.

Meanwhile, the Big 4 Zone is still undergoing post-landslide remediation. Asep stated that the zone will resume operations with an additional capacity of approximately 1,500 tons per day once the remediation process is complete.

The Jakarta Environmental Agency is also optimizing other processing facilities to maintain Jakarta's waste processing capacity during the recovery period.

In addition to the Rorotan RDF Plant, waste processing is carried out at the Bantargebang RDF Plant with a capacity of around 800 tons per day and at the Merah Putih PLTSa facility with a capacity of around 100 tons per day.

"Through this scheme, the total waste that can be handled by the end of this week is estimated to reach around 6,700 to 7,150 tons per day," he explained.

Asep emphasized that this step is part of an effort to maintain public services while accelerating operational recovery at the Bantargebang landfill.

"With the various handling steps currently being taken, we hope that waste management operations at the Bantargebang landfill can return to normal within a week," he said.
