East Jakarta Satpol PP Tightens Public Order Operations Ahead of Eid al-Fitr

Ahead of Eid al-Fitr, the East Jakarta Satpol PP has intensified public order operations (Pekat), targeting the circulation of alcohol, firecrackers, Persons with Social Welfare Issues (PPKS), and potential brawlers.

East Jakarta Satpol PP head Muhammadong said the operation is being conducted across all sub-districts with personnel support from the city level. It also involves related agencies, including the Transportation, Social, and Health sub-agencies, as well as the Indonesian Military (TNI) and Police.

"Pekat operation will continue to be intensified in 10 sub-districts, targeting the distribution of alcohol, firecrackers, and illegal drugs, as well as preventing brawls," he said Sunday (3/15).

Muhammadong added that confiscated alcohol and illegal drugs will be destroyed at the city level after a ruling from the East Jakarta District Court.

Jatinegara Sub-district Satpol PP Head Teguh Nurdin Amali noted that his team secured 126 teenagers from West Jakarta and 49 motorcycles during a Pekat operation Friday (3/13) night. They were suspected of planning a street brawl on Jalan DI Panjaitan.

"They were immediately taken to the East Jakarta Metro Police headquarters," he informed.

On Saturday (3/14) night, his team also secured three PPKS, including two street buskers on Jalan I Gusti Ngurah Rai.

"We continue to monitor and conduct patrols to anticipate disturbances to public security and order. The operation involves around 50 joint personnel," he added.

In Cipayung Sub-district, a similar operation conducted from Saturday (3/14) night until early Sunday (3/15) seized 50 bottles of alcohol from three locations.

Cipayung Sub-district Satpol PP Head Novel Alexander said the bottles were secured at the sub-district office before being destroyed at the city level.

"The operation involved around 50 joint personnel from Satpol PP, the Social and Transportation Sub-agencies, East Jakarta Subkogartab Kodim 0505, Koramil 07 Cipayung, and Cipayung Police," he emphasized.
