The North Jakarta Bina Marga Sub-agency keeps accelerating the repair and upkeep of public streetlights (PJU) in six sub-districts. From January to March 2026, recorded data shows that 3,308 lighting points have been serviced.

Prompt response to reports and field inspections is our priority

According to Untung Pitoyo, Head of the City Utility Infrastructure Section, the maintenance is a continuous monthly process. The agency repaired 1,347 points in January, 1,290 in February, and 671 in March.

"Prompt response to reports and field inspections is our priority. We're not just swapping out lights, but also fine-tuning the infrastructure, from overhead lines to underground wiring, to ensure peak performance," he expressed, Monday (4/6).

He explained that the repairs cover all road categories, ranging from residential alleys to major thoroughfares. The lamps being serviced vary in capacity, with power ratings spanning from 40 to 200 watts.

The maintenance program extends far beyond mere bulb replacement. It involves comprehensive network and installation repairs, routine surveys, and asset protection measures to minimize damage to public facilities.

"We are on standby 24/7 across six districts, supported by six pickup trucks and three ladder trucks. Our aim is to ensure the safety and comfort of residents as they go about their activities at night," he explained.

He invited the community to participate in monitoring their neighborhoods by reporting any lighting issues through the city's official platforms to ensure a swift response from the maintenance personnel.

"Well-lit streets are about more than just comfort—they are a vital tool in boosting security and reducing criminal activity," he affirmed.
