Tanjung Priok District's Head of Environmental Unit, Amir said previously, there had been a buildup of rubbish at the location following the closure of illegal TPS.
"We continue to speed up transportation so that there is no prolonged buildup which could impact the comfort of residents," he said, Tuesday (4/7).
Two Tons of Trash Transported from Pesanggrahan RiverbanksAmir explained that the average volume of waste transported daily reaches around 60 tons. A total of eight units are deployed daily, consisting of large tipper trucks, trailer trucks, and other supporting vehicles.
"This transport fleet operates in rotation every day. Previously, there had been a reduction in the fleet quota," he added.
According to him, several illegal landfills (TPS) in the area have been closed. One of them, the Kencana TPS, is no longer in use and has been converted into a garbage cart pool. The Waduk Cincin TPS currently remains a waste disposal center.
He continued that the construction of the Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Waste Processing Facility (TPS3R) in the area is almost complete with progress reaching around 98 percent and is targeted to be operational soon.
"It is hoped that TPS3R will help reduce the waste burden in the North Jakarta area," he hoped.
