Grogol River Retaining Wall Repair in Lebak Bulus Completed

The repair of the Grogol River retaining wall on Jalan Haji Gandun Bawah, RT 08/08, Lebak Bulus, Cilandak, South Jakarta, finally completed.

The project took about two weeks to complete

Cilandak Sub-district Water Resources Executing Unit (SDA Head, Yansori said, the repair of the collapsed retaining wall was done as a follow-up to reports from residents.

"We conducted an on-site survey to measure and assess the extent of the damage. By the following day, repairs were immediately underway using robust materials," he stated, Monday (4/13).

He explained that the repair of the collapsed wall—measuring 12 meters long, 1.5 meters high, and 30 centimeters wide—was conducted manually by seven members of the "Blue Squad" (Pasukan Biru).

"The project took about two weeks to complete. We faced some weather-related challenges; when it rained and the river’s water level surged, the work had to be put on hold," he clarified.

He hoped that following the repairs, the retaining wall would be able to withstand high water discharge and runoff from the Grogol River, effectively keeping flooding at bay in residential areas during heavy downpours.

"Hopefully, with proper upkeep, this structure will remain functional for years to come," he noted.

The repair received appreciation from one of the locals, Agus Yulianto.

"If left unattended, we are concerned that the damage will worsen and impede the flow of water, which in turn could pose a flood risk to the local community," he asserted.
