South Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency (Sudinhub) is evaluating parking arrangements on Jalan Cempaka Lestari in Lebak Bulus Urban Village, Cilandak Sub-district.
To find a more optimal parking arrangement
South Jakarta Sudinhub Head, Bernard Pasaribu, said the evaluation is being carried out in coordination with Transportation Agency, Parking Management Unit, and local community representatives.
88 Motorcycles Impounded for Parking in Prohibited Areas"This road is a two-way road that was never designated as a parking area. It serves as a back access route to the MRT depot and remains open to two-way traffic," he emphasized on Monday (4/13).
Bernard explained that over time, a number of vehicles begun using the area for parking.
"This condition is likely due to motorists trying to avoid parking fees at nearby buildings," he added.
He noted that the area is still under the management of the Parking Unit. However, rising parking demand has led to disorganized parking activities, narrowing the roadway and potentially causing traffic congestion.
Bernard said his office, along with relevant agencies and local authorities, has repeatedly urged parking attendants to keep parking within designated areas and off the roadway.
"We will continue coordinating to find a more optimal parking arrangement, particularly to prevent congestion on Jalan Lebak Bulus Raya and Jalan Adhyaksa Raya as key connecting routes," he highlighted.
He expressed hope that improved parking management can be implemented soon to ease traffic flow, including access to the MRT depot, and create a more orderly urban environment.
"Hopefully, the results of this coordination will provide a solution so the issue does not drag on," he asserted.
