West Jakarta KPKP Sub-agency Monitors Wild Animals in Jelambar Residential Areas

The West Jakarta Food Security, Maritime Affairs, and Agriculture (KPKP) Sub-agency is monitoring stray animals in residential areas in neighborhoods 02 and 07 of Jelambar Urban Village, Grogol Petamburan. This monitoring follows residents' complaints about the presence of stray dogs and cats that have been causing a disturbance in their neighborhood.

"We received reports from residents that there are stray cats that often defecate anywhere, making the environment dirty and causing an unhealthy environment," he explained.

His team also received a report from a resident about the presence of a disturbing stray dog. Residents not only felt threatened, but also reported being frequently disturbed by the dogs' barking at night.

After further investigation, Djunet confirmed that the stray dog belonged to a local resident. Djunet stated that he had provided education and warnings to the owner to prevent the pet from disturbing the surrounding community.

Meanwhile, regarding the stray cat, Djunet admitted that he had not been able to reach it because he had not found its whereabouts.

Djunet also educated residents, through local neighborhood association (RT/RW) officials, about maintaining environmental cleanliness. Piles of trash attract stray animals to residential areas.

"With collaboration between officers and the community, it is hoped that this problem can be resolved and a cleaner and more comfortable environment can be created," he stated.
