"The Jakarta government wants to provide maximum support so that the event runs smoothly," said Pramono.

According to Pramono, hosting this marathon could be an economic driver and a symbol of the city's safety on the international stage. Jakarta is currently ranked the second safest city in Southeast Asia, after Singapore.

"I heard that, which has never happened before. We're now only behind Singapore, and I think the momentum of holding the Jakarta International Marathon will also strengthen that," he added.

The Governor also expressed his appreciation to BTN for holding the Jakarta International Marathon again this year. He stated that this event provides a platform for the public to channel their sporting and lifestyle activities.

He hopes that through this marathon event, Jakarta will develop into a sports tourism city that combines sports, lifestyle, and the economy in one complete ecosystem.

According to him, the BTN JAKIM event will also have a multiplier effect across various sectors, including the economy, social life, and global reputation. The presence of thousands of runners and tourists will boost occupancy in hotels, culinary delights, transportation, sports equipment retail, and local MSMEs.

"Hotels will definitely be full, people will come from everywhere, and our MSMEs will definitely be doing well," he continued.

He emphasized the importance of cross-sector collaboration in organizing the event. The Jakarta Provincial Government also ensured its readiness for the event by collaborating with various parties, including law enforcement officials.

"We really want to make the runners who take part in the Jakarta International Marathon happy and they have good memories," he hoped.

Meanwhile, BTN President Director Nixon Napitupulu revealed the high level of public interest in the 2026 Jakim event. According to him, this shows that running has become a lifestyle for the community.

"The enthusiasm for registering is really quite crazy," he said.

For your information, the 2025 BTN JAKIM event saw a record 31,000 participants from 53 countries. This year, the number of participants has increased significantly to 40,000, with 1,000 international runners from 45 countries participating, and the number is expected to grow.

Every aspect of the event is prepared to a high standard, starting from the route design that holds the Elite Road Race Label from World Athletics, the provision of water stations, cooling zones, live tracking, to cheering zones that enliven the race atmosphere.

In addition, medical support is provided with additional medical tents, medical personnel, a rapid response system, and a race route that has undergone a sterilization process and multi-layered security measures.

BTN JAKIM 2026 will be held over two days, June 13-14, 2026, with four race categories: 5K, 10K, Half Marathon, and Full Marathon.
