Fire Engulfing Radio Dalam Shophouses Put Out

South Jakarta firefighters successfully extinguished a fire at two shophouses in Radio Dalam, RT 03/11, Gandaria Utara Urban Village, Kebayoran Baru Sub-district, after deploying 64 personnel to the scene.

The fire was allegedly sparked by a gas leak in one of the units

South Jakarta Fire and Rescue Sub-agency's Operation Section Head, Sjukri Bahanan stated that the fire report was received from residents early this morning at 2:06 AM.

"We immediately rushed to deploy 16 fire trucks and 64 personnel to the scene," he expressed, Tuesday (4/21).

He noted that the bolted-shut shophouses initially complicated the firefighting efforts. The fire was eventually localized around 2:30 AM.

"The fact that the buildings were locked posed a challenge for the team. Nevertheless, we managed to handle the situation well," he explained.

He stated that the extinguishing process was concluded at 4:40 AM. No fatalities or injuries occurred during the blaze.

"The fire was allegedly sparked by a gas leak in one of the units. All 13 occupants within the two shophouses survived the incident," he added.

At the same time, a worker at the laundry shop, Muhammad Ariel mentioned that he was in the middle of sorting laundry for ironing at the time of the fire.

"After the explosion, we attempted to extinguish the flames with towels, but to no avail. We eventually rushed out to ask for assistance and called the firefighters," he added.
