BPS Calls on Entrepreneurs to Support 2026 Economic Census

Statistics Indonesia (BPS) Jakarta partnered with the Jakarta Industry, Trade, Cooperatives, and SMEs (PPKUKM) Agency to hold a “Ngisi Bareng” (Ngibar) session for the 2026 Economic Census.

The economic census will provide comprehensive and accurate data

Held at The Tavia Heritage Hotel on Wednesday (4/22), the event brought together hundreds of industrial businesses and marked the first Jakarta activity in the 2026 Economic Census series.

BPS Reports Jakarta Experienced 0.23 Percent Deflation in January 2026

Head of BPS Jakarta, Kadarmanto, said data generated from the census will serve as a foundation for Jakarta's transformation into a global city and help boosts its competitiveness.

"The economic census will provide comprehensive and accurate data to measure and map Jakarta's global competitiveness," he highlighted.

He added that the manufacturing sector is the second-largest contributor to Jakarta's economy after trade. Therefore, participation from industry businesses in the census is crucial as a basis for policymaking and development direction.

"The census is expected to produce detailed economic data down to the smallest administrative level, allowing us to identify which areas in Jakarta are experiencing the most economic growth," he explained.

Kadarmanto said the census is aimed at strengthening Jakarta's role as a national and international business hub, while also providing reliable data to assess and map its global competitiveness.

Through the Ngibar initiative, businesses receive direct assistance from BPS and the agency to submit data independently via an internal link connected to BPS’ central server, improving the efficiency of data collection.

"In Jakarta, we are starting with dominant business sectors, particularly industrial companies, as they play a key role in driving economic progress," he added.

BPS recorded around 1.4 million companies in Jakarta listed in the Statistical Business Register (SBR) that will be covered in the census. For those who do not participate in Ngibar, BPS officers will conduct door-to-door data collection.

"The census will run from June 15 to August 31. We will deploy more than 1,000 officers across all RTs in Jakarta," he said.

Jakarta PPKUKM Agency's Industry Division Head, Juanda Permana Jaya, said the initiative reflects the Jakarta administration's support for the central government program.

The Ngibar sessions are being held from April 22-23, 2026, with around 300 industrial companies in Jakarta participating across four sessions.

"This activity demonstrates the Jakarta Provincial Government's support for the 2026 Economic Census by involving industrial companies that play a strategic role in the city's economy," he asserted.

Juanda added that active participation from leaders of large and medium-scale industrial business is not only a data collection obligation but also a tangible contribution to Jakarta's development.
